When did people stop helping? A few years ago, I got a flat tire on the highway and within five minutes someone was there to help, and others stopped to assist still! Recently, I got a flat tire on the highway and I probably waited 20 minutes before someone stopped to help. (Don't get me wrong, I can change a flat! However, there were problems like the spare being stuck, and old--oops). Ok, so no big deal, right? Just the other day my baby girl accidently got locked inside a vehicle (it was a newer vehicle, and a rental!) Going into a local thrift store to get help, and use the phone, my friend found herself helpless as the young man was slow to respond, would not let her use the phone and asked stupid questions. Later, after Kay Rae was safe, I went into the store to find them. I overheard the staff discussing the "irritating" lady who locked the baby in the car!
I don't understand! But, hope is not lost. I know there are several people who truly care, who do help people, and who do it out of the kindness of their hearts! I urge you today to find ways to help people. We all have our unique gifts that God has given us and we can use to help and to serve.
Artists, there are ways to help with your art! Things like Quilts for Joplin, or donating your talent and time by painting a mural at a local Children's Hospital, or donating art for fundraisers.
Mostly, I just hope that if you see someone in need, you will stop to help if you can! May be I just needed to vent, but I hope you may be a little inspired...

P.S. Kay Rae was just fine and had a good ol' time just sitting in the car laughing at the silly policemen and people. When they got her out, she simply said, "hot!"

July first was another hot, dry day of this year.  Many celebrated Independence day with cookouts and fireworks; a dangerous mix with the hot dry summer! We celebrated anyway and prayed for rain. We had delicious hamburgers, hot dogs, and barbequre chicken on the grill, we had people of all ages and then a million or so fireworks. Not long into the so-called, fun with fire shows it began to rain! We rushed to get food and explosives into a dry place, then what did we do? We went inside and watched TV hoping for the rain to stop. NOT! I rushed Kay Rae back outside and danced along to some enchanting folklore music. We danced in the rain. This rare opportunity for us did not go unmissed! I pray all of you out there stay safe and have an opportunity to dance in the rain! Who really needs rain to dance, though!
On this particular day, I believe God saved a number of people from firework incidents that would have potentially caused life-threatening injuries. Thank you God for rain! Always! Perhaps we ought to use our rain more wisely, unfortunately in some states there are limits to using rainwater because "it belongs to someone else." I wonder who this someone is...God owns all of it and He gives freely. Anyway, here's one simple way to collect and harvest rainwater: The Wildflower Center (just make sure it's legal). Water your garden, wash your laundry, flush your toilet with God's wonderful rain...

Yesterday, June 9th was the day! I learned to crochet a week ago and made a silly contribution!

I never thought that I was a "health-freak" but since I've become a mother I have been accused of not only that, but of depriving my child! This mostly comes from my insistence of feeding my baby green things and not wanting to give her sugar. I'm sorry to say, but Americans eat way too much sugar among other things. I've also been accused of not being American, due to my diet; what can I say, I actually ENJOY healthy foods!
Moving on to eating bugs. I believe Kay Rae has been watching our cat. Yesterday, she showed an unusual fascination with a small little beetle. She poked at it, crawled with it, and laid down with it. This was all fun and games, and went on for some time, until at some point she decided to rip it in half (sorry beetle!) She was proud to show me where she had left half of the creature, but I wondered in dismay, what happened to the other half? Next thing I know, Kay finds it on her finger...and strait to the mouth it goes. Initial disgust caused me to squeel just a little then demand her to remove it. She did and we apologized to the poor beetle and threw him outside. Later I wondered if that was really so disgusting? Afterall, I intentionally ate a bug just last year-and a mealworm of all the creatures-on Kay's behalf! It was a cooked and flavored, not too well, bug that was challenged by the Nature Center for us to eat during their Insectorama event.
I'll bet you've eaten far more bugs or insects than you realize. For instance, a jar of peanut butter is allowed to have up to 210 bug fragments before it is deamed unsanitary! Love chocolate? On overage, chocolate contains 60 or more insect fragments per 100 grams. More people than you probably suspect eat bugs intentionally(Entomophagy) because compared with beef, insects have more protein and less fat. Well, now you know the truth.

As Im an artist, I observe. I enjoy looking for the "un-noticed" things of life. I probably won't have time to blog, but I thought I'd give it a try...
WARNING: I am an artist, and I do enjoy writing about the arts! However, I am also a new mother, and life has become even more interesting than before. Therefore, I warn you, I will probably write a great deal about my daughter, "Kay Rae". If you would like to read about art, click here!
